MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

WEB ADDRESS: http://joshealthcorner.blogspot.com/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: This blog was created by Johanna Pedranti. She is an aromatherapist passionate about sharing her knowledge. Her goal is to help people find their way to optimal health without going broke. This blog is about natural health, aromatherapy, nutrition and fitness. It also has tips on making soaps and your own natural health products.

MY REVIEW: This blog covers a variety of health topics - using "essential oils" in a variety of ways to promote health and beauty. The posts vary on such topics as essential oils for children, homespa, health building, making your own, and so on.

If you've got sensitive skin, or just want to get away from makeup and materials full of chemicals, give this blog a try.

Sample post
Essential Oils for Skin Care - Sensitive Skin

We all have the potential of having sensitive skin, and our skin may become sensitive to certain substances or sensitive in certain circumstances like stress. As we age the sensitivity may increase as well.

Avoid hard water, alcohol in skin toners, harsh alkaline cleaners or soaps, highly perfumed products and skin abrasives. Simplicity and pure ingredients are important in a skin care regimen for sensitive skin. Mild toners, gentle cleansers and delicate moisturizer are the key. Use simple floral water like chamomile or orange blossom as a toner. You can also make your own infused herbal toner.

It is also important that great care is taken when selecting the essential oils. Oils with anti-inflammatory properties like yarrow, lavender, neroli, German chamomile, and everlasting/helichrysum should be used for sensitive skin according to Battaglia.

Evening primrose, jojoba, apricot kernel and infused calendula oils are base oils that traditionally been used for sensitive skin.

Make your own ointments, creams, facial gels, and toners using the essential oils and base oils mentioned above.

Lilo Maternity Pregnancy (women interest, parents)

REVIEWED BY: Marguerite Zelle

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION LINK: Lilo Maternity and Pregnancy Blog, by Lilo Maternity

WEB ADDRESS: http://www.lilomaternity.com/blog/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Lilo Maternity Blog features stories, articles, advice and more on all topics related to pregnancy, maternity, childbirth and motherhood.

MY REVIEW: This blog is recommended. There's plenty of information on your babies and toddlers, their health and how to care for them. The only flaw in the blog is that there's only one post every other week or so. But for 99 cents it's well worth it.

Sample post
Sometimes moms are not sure if their child is sleeping or putting on some sort of show. Many children in their sleep kick, twitch, moan, rock, or groan, etc.

Why This Occurs: Young children are much lighter sleepers than adults and therefore wake up more frequently. For the brief few seconds or minutes that your child woke up, she may kick, yell out for you, or talk gibberish but it will not last long.

How They Get Back To Themselves: Most children realize right away what happened and they just sooth themselves right back to sleep. Some have other methods, like lifting their legs in the air, hum, or they rub their pacifier and blanket all over their face.

What To Do: If your child is not crying out in hunger or discomfort, give her a few minutes to let it pass. If you go in to try to help her you might wake her up entirely.

When Should I Talk To The Doctor: It is very common for children to bang their head and then go back to sleep. A good idea would be to check this out to rule out an ear infection and some development delays (some kids bang their head to correct their equilibrium). Children snoring is not normal and can be a sign of sleep apnea. Sleepwalking is not so common but can be dangerous.

WEB ADDRESS: http://www.ourordinarylife.com/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: [This blog] is based around my family and our life. I share experiences from being a mom, eating healthy foods, caring for my kids to working with major companies to review products we would otherwise buy.

MY REVIEW: This is a combination blog/ commercial site. The author reviews various children's products. She also talks about life with her husband and two children.

If you're a parent, you'll find this blog of interest. Lots of good stuff here, both for those who want to save money on kid's stuff, and for those who want to read about other parents raising their kids.

Parenting Solved (Lifestyles & Culture)

REVIEWED BY: Ann Currie

MY RECOMMENDATION: Visit archives on the web

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION LINK: N/A

WEB ADDRESS: parentingsolved.typepad.com

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Compelling commentary on parenting and child health.

MY REVIEW: When I read this on my Kindle it had not been updated since June 13, 2009 but I checked online to make sure and low and behold it is alive and well and I was glad I did because this was a very informative blog written by a pediatrician – a very patient pediatrician. Then when I went back 6 weeks later it had not been updated. Alas, it is indeed inactive.

It's really too bad. The blog varies from post to post in its content. It can run from a serious discussion about childhood vaccines and autism to how to talk to your pediatrian to a commentary on the status of cursive writing in today’s society. The posts are well written, interesting, with pictures, and chocked full of links relating to the content of the posts. It is very informative and easy to understand.

The archives are still there, so take a look at them.
