Daily Norsemen (MInnesota Vikings blog)

REVIEWED BY: Marguerite Zelle

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION LINK: Daily Norseman

WEB ADDRESS: http://www.dailynorseman.com/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: The Daily Norseman features news about the Minnesota Vikings. From game highlights to player stats to team updates, all things Vikings is covered.

MY REVIEW: If you're a Minnesota Viking fan, you'll like this blog.

For myself, I grew up in Minnesota and the Vikings were my team. Ever since they recruited Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers [yes, I know he spent some time in New York], I've been ambivelent to them. But this year is just beyond the pale. The guy sits at home and three of his teammates have to come and beg him to play? Pathetic.

I hope they never win another game with him as quarterback.

There, I said it and I'm glad!

This blog doesn't get into that issue, just covers the news. Although if you go to the website itself, there are discussion boards you can join.

Blog Maverick

REVIEWED BY: Ms. Cairo

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION PAGE: Blog Maverick

WEB ADDRESS: www.blogmaverick.com

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Mark Cuban, co-founder of Broadcast.com and current owner of the Dallas Mavericks, blogs on all things in the worlds of economy and finance.

MY REVIEW: I find this blog very interesting. Although I don't care for some of Mark Cuban's antics courtside, there's no denying he's an extremely successful owner of a basketball team (the Dallas Mavericks) and it is very educational to read what he has to say on a variety of topics.

The blog is well written, informative, and of course with the insider's touch on the business side of running a sports franchise. This isn't a news journalist reporting from the outside on what it's like to be on the inside, it's a man on the inside, sharing his insight with us.

I wish the entries would be daily, but sometimes he posts on a daily basis, sometimes there's a week in between. He must be busy! ; ) Well, that's why it makes sense to subscribe via Kindle.

Pinstripe Alley (Yankees)

REVIEWED BY: Ms Cairo

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES if you're a Yankee fan. Boo hiss if you're not!

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION PAGE: Pinstripe Alley

WEB ADDRESS: www.pinstripealley.com/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Pinstripe Alley is your source for the latest Yankees news and game recaps. This blog provides a forum for passionate fans all year round.

MY REVIEW: Okay, I really, really dislike the Yankees (boo, hiss!) but there’s no denying that they’re a great team and they’ve got tons of fans. And those tons of fans will want to subscribe to this blog, just to get all the news about the team in one place. I personally don’t care for bloggers who use words like “suckitude”, but that’s the current generation for ya!

This is another blog hosted on Sportsblog Nation.

Unlike FishStripes (which I also reviewed today), which had only one author, Craig (at least at this time in the year); Pinstripe Alley appears to have several – Travis G., jscape2000, CrazyYankeeChick, and so on.

Some of these blog entries are the kind where you have to click on a link to go to a webpage to see the full story, but so many of them are the full article, so I’ll give that a pass.

THE GOOD: Lots of fans giving their own perspective of the Yankees. Well written, informative. These fans know their stuff.

THE BAD: Well, it is a Yankees blog!

FishStripes (Florida Marlins)

REVIEWED BY: Ms. Cairo

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION PAGE: FishStripes

WEB ADDRESS: www.fishstripes.com

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Welcome to the SB Nation blog about Florida Marlins.

MY REVIEW: Spring training is going to get underway very soon…indeed, pitchers and catchers are already starting to show up! but of course if you’re a baseball fan, news continues year round. So if you’re a Florida Marlins fan, you’ll want to get in on the action by subscribing to this blog.

The author of this blog is named Craig. I don’t know who that is – Sports Blog Nation is just a main host for all sorts of blogs, just as Blogger is, only SB Nation of course specializes in sports. However, Craig appears to be extremely knowledgeable about the Florida Marlins – his postings cover a wide range of topics on the team, and are well written and informative.

Marlins fans will love this blog.

THE GOOD: Everything. It's informative. The writer knows his stuff.

THE BAD: If you want the view of someone inside the clubhouse, this isn't it. But for fans who keep as close a track on the game as possible, this will serve.
