Cool Tools (technology, gizmos)

REVIEWED BY: Margarite Zelle

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION LINK: Cool Tools, by Cool Tools

WEB ADDRESS: http://www.kk.org/cooltools/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: According to site creator, Kevin Kelly, cool tools really work. "A cool tool can be any book, gadget, software, video, map, hardware, material, or website that is tried and true. I am chiefly interested in stuff that is extraordinary, better than similar products, little-known, and reliably useful for an individual or small group. Items can be old items, or cheap things that you still dote on after years of use. Suggestions for tools much better than what is recommended here are always wanted. Tell me what you love."

MY REVIEW: Multiple writers contribute to this blog, giving reviews of the very items they use. The tools they talk about are all kinds - things for the kitchen, bathroom, car, workplace, etc.

They tell you where you can purchase each item, as well. If you visit the blog on the web, you can click on the link to go to the particular businesses's website. IF you're reading via Kindle, just write down the name of the manufacturer and look it up at your leisure.

MY REVIEW: Well, if you like mixed martial arts, you'll like this blog. That's about all I can say. (Well, I could say that all that macho male posturing gets on my nerves (so does macho female posturing) and it just looks ridiculous, and if they'd act like grown men instead of 10-year-old boys bragging on themselves I might take more of an interest...but... ; )

Cigar Hell (lifestyle and literature, men's interest)

REVIEWED BY: Ms. Cairo

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES, with reservations

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION LINK: Cigar Hell

WEB ADDRESS: http://cigarhell.com/

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Cigar Hell is published 5 days a week (M-F), and features tobacco related news, opinion pieces, and reviews of cigars and pipe tobacco. The news is published each weekday morning, and there may be times when the blog is updated more than once a day, as reviews or breaking news comes in. It is formatted with the Kindle in mind.

Any Brother or Sister of the Leaf is welcome here: pipe and cigarette smokers as well as cigar fans. We hope you like it and find it useful. Please feel free to offer any criticisms, comments, or suggestions you may have.

Come grow with us!

MY REVIEW: I'm not a fan of smoking, but I have no objections to other people doing it. (Second hand smoke? Please! We all walk around inhaling effluvia all day long.) [On the other hand, cigars do stink and chewing tobacco - revolting.] In any event, if you're a fan of tobacco, you'd enjoy this blog. My caveat - it hasn't been updated since the end of April, 2010.

Full Figure Plus

REVIEWED BY: Ann Currie

MY RECOMMENDATION: YES

AMAZON SUBSCRIPTION PAGE: Full Figure Plus

WEB ADDRESS: www.fullfigureplus.com

BLOG DESCRIPTION: Full Figure Plus is dedicated to posting news, links, and relevant information for plus size women and big and tall men.

MY REVIEW: This a full-size blog for the millions of full size women out there. The posts are full of shopping information as well tips on dressing and styles. The posts are updated regularly.

There are some links that cannot be accessed on the Kindle but the entries are not dependent on those links and the valuable content is in the posts. One of the more valuable assets of this blog is its references to and reviews of retailers that offer fashions for this audience. It is refreshing to see a positive fashion blog for the full size woman.
